Wilma Jo Gibson, 80, of Shelbyville, IN, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family by her side, on Saturday, March 29, 2025. She had been ill for 11 days.
Born on January 29, 1945, in Shelbyville, IN, she was the only child to the late Elmer Kanouse & Virginia (Cohee) Kanouse. On July 13, 1962, Wilma married Roscoe Lawrence Gibson, and he preceded her in death on December 22, 1999.
Wilma was a graduate of Southwestern (Shelby County) High School. She was of the Catholic faith. Wilma retired from Target.
Her survivors include her children: Danielle Gibson, Lonny (Jackie) Gibson, Randy Gibson, Kimberly (Lowell) Thomas, & Andrea (Curt) Baughman; grandchildren: Amber Gibson, Valerie (Brian) Gunderman, Cody (Kim) Phelps, Haley Smith, Karrie Gibson, Alexis Phelps, Madeline Gibson, Paul Gibson, Rose Farr, & Brandon Farr; 14 great grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband whom she loved deeply.
Wilma loved her grandkids dearly. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels. She had a soft spot for animals. Her favorite past time was reading and scrolling through social media to stay connected. She loved watching Days of Our Lives.
Funeral services for Wilma will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN with Chris Criminger officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA Humane Society. The burial will take place at Bennett Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia is handling the arrangements.
