Steven L. Rice, 70, of Vallonia, died at his home, surrounded by his family, at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. He was born on April 5, 1951, in Haleysburg, to the late Robert "Buck" Rice and Lena Burgess Rice. He graduated from and played football for West Washington High School. He married Rita Johnson Rice on November 13, 1976, in Uniontown, IN and she survives in Vallonia. Steven was a Union carpenter and welder. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and wood working. Survivors include his wife, Rita Rice; children, Angela (Stephen) Wheeles & Uriah Rice; stepchildren, Dwayne, Deanna, Barbara & Jeana Locke; 4 sisters, 2 half-brothers, 1 half-sister; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Steven was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 1 half-brother, and 2 children: Lora & David Rice. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
