Sally Jo Simmonds, 82, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026. She was a resident of Lutheran Community Home in Seymour, IN and formally from Columbus, IN.

Sally Jo was born on Jan 30, 1944, to the late Delmer and Hazel (Brewer) Achelpohl. She was a graduate of Vallonia High School and Indiana Business College. Sally worked for Cummins Engine Company for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Columbus, IN.

Sally Jo is survived by her brother Delmer Achelpohl Jr and his wife Barbara; nephew Roger (Shawn) Achelpohl; niece's, Denna Bowman and Jodi Underwood.

Sally lived a simple life. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, taking trips with her cousins and playing cards with her family and friends.

The family would like to thank all the employees at Lutheran Community Home for taking great care of her. They were a blessing.

Funeral services for Sally Jo Simmonds will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Pastor Tim Carter officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in memory of her parents, Delmar and Hazel Achelpohl.
