Roberta Root, age 79, of Medora, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, October 10, 2025, at her daughter's home in Paris Crossing. She had been ill for one year.

Roberta was born on October 14, 1945, in Brownstown to the late Claudie & Nancy (Ferguson) Edwards. She married Earl Root on May 29, 1962, and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2020.

Roberta was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vallonia. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling to Myrtle Beach, and loved attending family gatherings.

Survivors include her children: Becky (Robert) Fields, Charlotte Moore, Earl Root, Jr., & Teresa (Shawn) Bowman; grandchildren: Jessica Pope, April Verble, Michael Moore, Heather Lacey, Brandon Moore, Maegan Moore, Scottie Barker, Scylar Barker. & Craig Bell; brothers: Robert Edwards & Irvin Edwards; sisters: Lorene Rivers, Janet Root, Linda Butler, & Wilma Sumpter.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Archie, William, & Roy; sister, Belle; daughter, Paula Moore; grandchildren: Johnny Miller, Ashley Barker, & Earl Root, Jr. 2nd.

Funeral services for Roberta will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with John Moore officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until service time. The burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Family of Roberta Root.
