Obituary

Robert “Bob” Eugene Curry was born on November 18, 1945, to Chance and Ilene Curry in Jackson County, Indiana. He was raised in an area near Medora, Indiana, affectionately referred to as Strawberry Ridge, alongside his parents and his older siblings Marcella and Myron. Bob attended Clearspring High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. His experiences there helped cultivate a lifelong love of learning and of basketball. Bob was a talented basketball player and enjoyed playing and watching the game throughout his life, especially cheering on the Purdue and Butler teams with family. Bob went to work at the State Highway Department after high school where he met the love of his life, Janet Brewer. They married and the adventure began! Bob and Jan worked by day and pursued their education by night. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and an MBA from Butler University, and he became a licensed professional engineer in the state of Indiana. In 1978, Bob and Jan founded Robert E. Curry & Associates. Together, they built an engineering firm serving utilities across Indiana, where employees and clients alike became family. Bob worked on numerous drinking water and wastewater projects and took great pride in the challenges, accomplishments, and relationships that defined his career. He retired in 2024 after more than 50 years in the profession.Bob never knew a stranger and genuinely enjoyed meeting people, sharing conversations, and laughing wherever he went. He was deeply blessed by his church family and was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity and the Avon Rotary Club. An optimist and an encourager, Bob was a constant source ofstrength and support to those around him. Bob was a devoted father and is survived by his two daughters, Lori (Michael) Young and Lynn (John) Barrett. He was a wonderful father who taught by example the values of Christian faith, love for family, and hard work. Bob was also a proud grandfather and is survived by his four grandchildren—Darian, Andrew, Henry, and Elizabeth—who were truly the apple of his eye.Bob tirelessly supported Jan through her battle with colon cancer, serving as her steadfast rock. Jan passed away in 2024, after 57 years of marriage. Bob approached this next chapter of his life with the same unfailing faith and positivity that defined him. In 2025, Bob again found love with Denise Watson. Though their time together was short, their relationship was beautiful and full of hope. Bob and Denise were planning their marriage and life together at the time of his passing. Denise brought Bob great joy and companionship during this chapter of his life. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 13, 2026 at West Bridge Church, 1521 S.
