Rita Carol Pumphrey, 56, of Vallonia (Millport), went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 21, 2021. She passed away peacefully with her family beside her. Rita was born on December 6, 1964 to the late Charlie & Gladys (Spoons) Raby. She graduated from Salem High School in 1983. She married James Harvey Pumphrey Jr. on October 15, 1982, in Seymour and he survives in Vallonia. Rita was a certified nursing assistant at the Washington County Hospital where she loved taking care of people. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Rita is also survived by her 3 children; Mitchell (Jane Bair) Pumphrey of Medora, Michael (Kelly) Pumphrey of Dudleytown, and Jamie (Nick) Helson of Milltown; 2 nephews who were like her sons, Cody Doyle & David Raby; grandchildren, Charley, Riley, Briar, Emily, Tucker & Flint Pumphrey, Anthony Warren & Clyde Helson; 2 sisters, Linda Darkis & Joanne Doyle. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Wayne & Carl Raby, and a sister, Sue Doyle. Funeral Services for Rita will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Tony McCutcheon officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to Johnson Funeral Home.
