Redith Merrie "Reedy' Wingler Burns, 86, of Seymour, died at 12:20 a.m. January 21, 2013 at her residence. She had been ill for several months. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour where she had been active in the Board of Human Care and the Hand Bell Choir. She was Homemaker. She was a member of the DAR, VFW Ladies Auxilliary of Seymour. Mrs. Burns was born July 26, 1926 in Peughtown, IN to John and Frances (Hattabaugh) Wingler and they are both deceased. She married Kermit Lee Burns on February 13, 1947 in Vallonia and he died on November 24, 2001. Mrs. Burns is survived by her 2 children, Steven (Amy) Burns of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Patricia (Warren) Lucas of Seymour; 1 sister, Conita Benton of Seymour; 1 brother, Avis (Shirley) Wingler of Seymour; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Scherer of Seymour; 5 grandchildren, Daniel Abell, Julie (Russ) Clark, Jeffrey Burns, Amanda (Cory) Dingess, & Marlena (Mike) Russell; 6 great grandchildren, Nicholas (Brittany) Abell, Andrew Dingess, Seth Abell, Noah Dingess, Haley Dingess, & Katelynn Russell. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Roscoe, Ernest, & David Wingler, sisters Maysel Martin & Ruby Scherer, and grandchildren Rebecca Lawrence & Johnna Lee Hollin. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Daniel Lepley officiating. Burial will follow at Vallonia Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 9 til service time at Johnson Funeral Home.
