Ralph "Waldo" Hattabaugh, 81, of Vallonia, died at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 28th at his home surrounded by the ones he loved so much. He had been ill for 18 months. He graduated from Salem High School in 1953. He was a member of the Vallonia Christian Church, Medora Lodge #328 F&AM, and the Ft. Vallonia Days Board for 15 years. He was retired from Arvin Ameritech in Walesboro. Ralph was born on September 4, 1935 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Merle & Belva Killion Hattabaugh. He married Beverly K. Duncan on June 28, 1957 in Vallonia and she survives. Other survivors include his children, Curt Hattabaugh, Michelle Burbrink, Bill "Bo" Williams and Susie Themer; grandchildren, Blake Williams, Brooke (Wes) Banet, Brianne (Alex) Minnich, Seth Snelling & Emma Snelling; great grandchildren, Brinley, Brylee and Westin Banet; a brother, D. Keith (Nedra) Hattabaugh; numerous nieces and nephews; Alabama buddy Hoss and many dear and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother and sister-in-law, Frank & Jean Hattabaugh. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home with Chris Criminger officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A Masonic service will take place Thursday evening at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Masonic Lodge of Medora, Vallonia Christian Church and the Don Dana Myers Cancer Center Radiology Department. Ralph loved the IU Hoosiers, knives, guns and watches. His greatest love though was spending time with family and especially watching the "Banet Babies"
