Mary Virginia Hartley, 99, of Vallonia, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown. She was a 1937 graduate of Vallonia High School and graduated from Seymour Business College in 1938. She was a member of the Vallonia Christian Church and served many roles in their Christian Companions lady's group. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #264. Mary Virginia worked at Morgan Packing Company in Austin for 7 years and the Citizens State Bank of Vallonia for 16 years. She was born on March 26, 1920, in Medora, IN to the late Henry E. & Clara Geyer Slade. On April 13, 1941 in Vallonia, she married Cleo B. Hartley and he preceded her in death on November 1, 1994. Survivors include her children, Maryann (Marvin) Wright of Westport, IN and John B. (Amy) Hartley of Vallonia; 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren & 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters, Delores Johnson & Janette Sullivan. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Chris Criminger & Marvin Wright officiating. Friends may visit the family on Friday, November 29th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery.
