Obituary

Lyle "Dwight" Jones, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at the Covered Bridge Health Campus. He had been ill for 3 years. Dwight was born on December 31, 1944, in Clearspring, IN to the late Aden Jones, Sr. & Vera Weaver Jones. He attended Clearspring High School. He married Judy A. Giles Jones on August 1, 1991, in Louisville, KY and she survives. Dwight attended Brownstown Nazarene Church. He worked as a machine operator for Cummins Diesel and was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles & The American Legion, all of Seymour. Dwight enjoyed being outside, mowing, driving his S/10 around the block with Judy, and making trips to Missouri to see his family. Survivors include: a daughter, Vera (Tim) Hatfield of Spraytown; 3 stepchildren: Lisa (Wayne) Wagers & Teresa (Lonnie) Rodgers both of Columbus, Tracy (Tim) Anderson of Indianapolis; Grandchildren: Corey Simmons, Kendra Simmons, JP Everroad, Lindsey McKee, Jessica Wagers, Dillen Rodgers, Taryn Anderson, Timmy Anderson, & Tamara Anderson; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. Brothers: Ed (Kathy) Jones of Freetown, Howard (Beth) Jones of Brownstown; sisters: Sharon (David) Arthur of Seymour & Cheryl Fields of Clearspring; sisters-in-law: Virginia Jones & Rita Jones both of Brownstown; numerous nieces & nephews. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers: Harold "Tom" Jones, Ferrell "Buck" Jones, Aden Jones, Jr., Dave Jones, & Vernon Jones; 2 sisters: Delores Wheeler & Millicent "Midge" Fields; stepson, Michael "Keith" Feese; brothers-in-law: Delbert Fields, Frank Fields, & Jerry Wheeler; sister-in-law, Betty Jones. Funeral services for Dwight will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia, with Tim Lichtley officiating. Friends may visit with the family Monday, April 29th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. The burial will take place at Smallwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Smallwood Cemetery & Brownstown Nazarene Church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnsonfh.net.
