Leroy Gene Meahl, 78, of Vallonia, died at 3:38 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Schneck Medical Center. He had been suffering from illness for 3 years. He was a member of Driftwood Christian Church. He was a farmer and a TV/Radio repairman. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and stain glass. He graduated from Vallonia High School in 1954. Mr. Meahl was born on February 12, 1936 in Vallonia to the late Roy & Louise Peters Meahl. He lived all of his life in Jackson County. On June 16, 1957 in Vallonia, he married Joyce Norene Toppe and she preceded him in death on September 8, 1983. Survivors include 2 sons, Eric Gene (Jane) Meahl of Denton, Texas and Tommy Joe Meahl of Vallonia; 2 grandchildren, Joshua Perry & Rachele Michelle Meahl both of Texas; 1 brother, George (Jo Ellen) Meahl of Salem; 2 sisters, Donna (Jr.) Wessel of Brownstown & Roslyn Robertson of Brownstown. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son-Perry Lee Meahl, & 1 brother-Ray Meahl. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with the Rev. Steve Gommel officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to Driftwood Christian Church.
