Obituary

Lawrence Henry Toppe, 93, of Brownstown, died at 4:45 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Covered Bridge Health Campus. He was born on February 7, 1927 in Jackson County, IN to the late Alvin Christian Toppe and Addie E. Fogelding Toppe. He married Helen Louise Peters Toppe on November 20, 1949 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia and she preceded him in death on April 17, 2009. Lawrence was a U.S. Army Veteran and a former member of the VFW. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church (Wegan) pastored by Martin Keller. He was a retired Farmer and heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed farming, bulldozing, & horses. His survivors include his children, Sandra K. (Dave) Hackman, Sherri L. (Lester) Glaser, & Ronald D. (Kim) Toppe; grandchildren, Michael & Darin Hackman, Jennifer N. Hash, Heather Rowe, Leah Parlegreco, Justin Doty, Ashley Nordoff, Brianna Schultz, & Wade Toppe; several great grandchildren; a brother, William (Marian) Toppe. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, wife, & a son, Roger Dale Toppe. A private family funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Wegan) with Pastor Jeff Stuckwisch officiating. Burial will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery (Wegan) with military graveside rites. Memorial contributions can be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Wegan) and can be mailed to Johnson Funeral Home P.O. Box 24 Vallonia, IN 47281.
