Larry Joe Johnson, 84, of Seymour, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour. Larry was born on October 3, 1936 to the late Oris Glen Sr. & Delores Mae Slade Johnson. He was a member of the Vallonia Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge and the Vallonia Lions Club. He attended Purdue University majoring in Mechanical Engineering and retired from Cummins Engine Company as a Service Manager after 32 years of employment. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outside and fishing, and especially loved the family annual fish fries and horseshoe tournaments at his lake house. Survivors include his 2 children, Greg Johnson of Seymour & Mitzi (Michael) Lawson of Hanover; 2 granddaughters, Nikki (Jason) Helmuth of Topeka, IN and Abigail Walburn of Chicago; 2 great grandchildren, Remington & Kimber Helmuth; brother's, Oris Glen (Jane) Johnson Jr. of Chesterfield, MO & Gene Paul (Mary Beth) Johnson of Vallonia, sister, Mary Janette (Eugene) Fleetwood of Seymour; ex-wife, Faye Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis S. Johnson. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, October 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Chris Criminger officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, October 18th from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to Vallonia Christian Church or to the Vallonia Cemetery.
