Kevin Gene Fleetwood, 63, of Seymour, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in Reddington, IN.
Born on June 25, 1963, in Seymour, IN, Kevin was the son of Willard Eugene Fleetwood & Mary Jeanette “Teedee” (Johnson) Fleetwood, who survive. On October 2, 1993, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in North Vernon, IN, he married Karen Finnerty Fleetwood, and she passed away on December 22, 2017.
Kevin was a 1981 graduate of Seymour High School and attended Evansville University and later graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Kevin enjoyed a distinguished career spanning three decades with Cummins Engine Company, where he held several positions of great responsibility and ultimately retired as Executive Director of Global Engine Purchasing. Throughout his career, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and suppliers alike for his leadership, knowledge, and integrity. Never one to slow down, following his retirement from Cummins, he pursued several entrepreneurial ventures. He built and established Karen's Vineyard and Winery, owned and operated Black Belt Racing, where he sold racing parts and business supplies, and owned and operated Golfcarts of Indiana. His dedication, business sense, and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in everything he pursued.
He had a wide variety of hobbies and interests that brought him great enjoyment throughout his life. He was a regular member of the breakfast and coffee club and enjoyed the fellowship and conversations shared with friends. He was passionate about dirt track racing, serving as a driver, owner, and pit crew member. He also enjoyed working on old cars, tinkering with player pianos, and woodworking. He proudly earned his second-degree black belt in Taekwondo, reflecting his dedication and determination. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother who treasured his family and the time they shared together. He will be remembered for his many talents, his willingness to stay busy, and the love and devotion he showed to those closest to him.
Kevin is survived by his children: Jarod Fleetwood of Cincinnati, OH and Lauren Fleetwood of Carmel, IN; his parents, Gene & Teedee; sisters: Deena Bratcher (Dickie Phillips) of Seymour & Belinda Fleetwood of Louisville, KY; his companion of almost 6 years, Terri Francis of Bloomington, IN; nieces: Cassie Prewitt, Jodi Prewitt, & Kimberley Fleetwood; great niece, Josylyn Prewitt (Kenneth Hurley) & great nephew, Samuel Fitzpatrick; great great niece, Josie Hurley; sister and brother-in-law, Corinne Finnerty & Don Lee; and his dog Benny.
Kevin was preceded in death by his wife; cousin, Greg Johnson; grandparents: Ruby & Willard Fleetwood and Oris & Delores Johnson.
Funeral services for Kevin Fleetwood will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Vallonia Christian Church, Vallonia. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to the Alzheimer's Association .
