Obituary

Kenneth Richard Pollert, age 90, passed away on November 29, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center. Mr. Pollert was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia, IN, where he served in various church offices over the years. He attended Vallonia schools, graduating in 1952. Kenneth served in the Armed Services from 1956 through 1958, attending Radio School at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and spent 13 months in Korea.

He was a lifelong farmer and worked for Farm Bureau Co-op, as well as Reliance Electric in Columbus, IN. He was employed by Brownstown Central Schools for 39 years, where he drove bus #9 until retiring in August 2013.

Born January 17, 1934, in Jackson County, he was the son of Martin and Mary Redicker Pollert, both of whom preceded him in death.

Kenneth married Elsie M. Schroer on June 7, 1959, at St. John's Lutheran Church, White Creek, and they enjoyed 65 years together. Elsie survives in Vallonia. Also surviving are their three children: Victoria A. Lesher of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Gregory L. (Anna) Pollert of Vallonia, IN, and Rebecca L. (Thomas) Brown of Brownstown, IN. Eight grandchildren survive, including Joanna Lesher (Ryan McConnell), Monica Lesher, Seth (Andi) Pollert, Joshua Pollert, Caleb Pollert, Luke Pollert (Hannah Kerkhof), Jacob (Haley) Brown and Abigail (Jake) Torrie. Great grandchildren include Henry Brown, Grace Brown, Addilyn Pollert and Holland Pollert. He is also survived by his sister Grace Stuckwisch of Seymour, IN. He loved his family and grandchildren dearly.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Michael Lesher, sister Dorothy Hackman and brothers-in-law Noble Stuckwisch and Alvin Hackman.

Funeral services for Kenneth Pollert will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia, with Pastor Jordan McKinley officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia, IN, and from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at Trinity Cemetery following the funeral service.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
