Joseph Dale Leeper, Jr., age 39, of Medora, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Joseph was born on March 7, 1986, in Indianapolis, IN to Joseph Dale Leeper, Sr. & Katherine (Smith) Miller. He was a graduate of Brownstown Central High School.

Joseph was a caregiver and his favorite person to take care of was his grandmother, Sharon Smith-Delph. Every Tuesday they went to Rockford Ridge to eat. Joseph also loved spending time with and playing chess with his daughter, Alexis. His nieces and nephews were very special to him and gave him the nickname of Uncle JOJO. He was a big "gamer" and enjoyed playing with his best friend, Josiah Caudill. One of his favorite past times was fishing.

Joseph is survived by his mother, Katherine Miller; stepfather, James Miller; daughter, Alexis Nichole Leeper; sister, Heather Leeper; grandmother, Sharon Smith-Delph; grandparents, Donald & Peggy Leeper; stepbrother, Benjamin Miller; stepsister, Jamie Grinstead; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father; grandfather, John Robert Smith; Step-grandfather, Simon Delph; aunt, Norenea Smith; and a niece, Simone Smith.

Funeral services for Joseph will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia, with Chris Criminger officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
