Jon Richard Perkins, 71, of Brownstown, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center.
Jon was born in Baltimore, Maryland on August 18, 1953, to the late Phillip & Shirley (Ketcham) Perkins. Jon received a Bachlors degree from Abilene Christian College. He was a proud United States Marine and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Brownstown Nazarene Church. He was formerly a Chemical Operator at Nutrasweet in Augusta, Georgia and served Jackson County residents as a Medicab Driver. He enjoyed talking with anyone he met. Jon was a mentor for AA groups and Recovery Road.
On January 1, 2011, in Franklin, IN, Jon married Debra Brown Perkins, and she survives in Brownstown. Other survivors include 2 daughters: Amanda (Jacob) Settles of Texas & Christina (Shawn) Perkins of Augusta, Georgia; 2 step children: Allan (Jennifer) Hendley of Versailles, IN & Curtiss (Heather) Hendley of Franklin, IN; 3 grandchildren: Hailey, Emily, & Jaxson; step grandchildren: Jamison, Cheyanne, & Lela Hendley, Cheyanne (Brandon) Ball, Christa (Cody) Barrows, Rutherford (Maddie) Hendley, Caleb & Henry Teagarden; step great grandchildren: John Michael, Jackson, & Karter Ball, Hudson Barrows, & Waylon Hendley; sisters: Judy (Cliff) Henning of South Carolina, Sandy (Greg) Hatfield of Augusta, Georgia, & Elizabeth (Albert) Barone of North Augusta, South Carolina.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents; step granddaughter, Anna Hendley; and a step great granddaughter, Brayleen Hendley.
Funeral Services for Jon will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at the Brownstown Nazarene Church with Tim Lichtley officiating. Friends may visit the family on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The burial will take place at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Madison, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to Brownstown Nazarene Church.
