Obituary

James Ronald Shoemaker, 77, of Vallonia, died at 12:33 p.m. at his residence on Saturday, August 2, 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 1958 until 1960 as a Military Police Officer in Ft. Lewis, Washington. He was member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vallonia where he held offices as Chairman, Elder, & trustee. He was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League and Jackson County Farm Bureau. He was a farmer. He graduated from Vallonia High School. He was born January 21, 1937 in Jackson County to the late Louis & Leah Otting Shoemaker. He married Carolyn Louise Grelle on January 21, 1962 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Brownstown. Other survivors include 4 daughters, Jane Ellen (Tim) Tiemeyer of Vallonia, Teresa Marie (Dale) Pottschmidt of Seymour, Barbara Sue (Kevin) Wehmiller of Seymour, Pamela Louise (Terry) Stuckwisch of Seymour; Grandchildren, Christin, Jason, & Jeffrey Turmail, Joshua, Tyler, & Clayton Pottschmidt, Jamie & Zachary Wehmiller, Craig & Chad Stuckwisch; 2 brothers, Richard (Doris) Shoemaker of Vallonia, and Eugene (Barbara) Shoemaker of Vallonia; 2 sisters, Norma Turmail of Seymour & Margaret Snider of Salem; 2 sister-in-laws, Lois Shoemaker of Vallonia and Mary Ann Grelle of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert Shoemaker and an infant, Carl Shoemaker and a brother-in-law's Marvin Grelle & John Turmail. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia with the Pastor Ralph Bloomenberg officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 4-8 at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia and from 10:00 am until service Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery where full Military Graveside Rites will be conducted. Memorials may be given to Lutheran Hour Ministries, Trinity Lutheran Church or Schneck Medical Hospice.
