Helen Bowers, 82, of Vallonia, died Thursday, August 5, 2021 at the Seymour Crossing. She was born on November 11, 1938, in Seymour to the late Luther & Enola Kuhlman Steltenphol. Helen graduated from Seymour High School and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She married Jerry Lee "Big Moose" Bowers on July 15, 2000, and he preceded her in death on September 15, 2020. Helen enjoyed reading, especially the Tribune and Banner, going to auctions & yard sales, shopping, gardening, and traveling. Survivors include Helen's daughters, Melody (Don) Miles & Patricia (Jason McKenzie) Branch; step-sons, Ray Dyas & Billy Jack Lowery; sisters, Carolyn Drahn & Dorothy Colvin; son-in-law, Jeff Costello; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy (Samantha) Costello, Jennifer (Adam) Bowman, J.R. (Stephany) Costello, Heather Riley, Melissa (Johnny) McKinney, Megan (Joel) Berkshire, Haileigh (Blake) McCrary, Amanda (Derek) Wright, Bradley Sallee, & Miranda Branch; 27 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; & several nieces & nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Earl Steltenpohl, daughter, Julie Costello, step-daughter, Carolyn McClesh, and a step-son, James Lowery. Funeral Services for Helen will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Johnson Funeral Home with Johnny Johnson officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 7th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery.
