Johnson Funeral Home 2005 South Main Street Vallonia, Indiana 47281 812-358-3341 Goldie Ann (Singer) Hauer, 77, of Vallonia, died at 5:19 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2016 at her home. She had been ill for 8 months. She was a member of Driftwood Christian Church. She was a Homemaker, assisted in the meat department at the JayC store and worked several years as a laborer at Dura Automotive. She was a graduate of Vallonia High School. She was born August 18, 1938 in Vallonia to the late Marshall and Hulda Bowers Singer. She has lived all of her life in Jackson County, IN. She married Richard D. Hauer on May 12, 1961 in Vallonia and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2009. Survivors include her children, Carmen (Darrell) Evans of Lancaster, SC, DeeDee (David) Kovener of Brownstown, Rex (Karen) Hauer of Vallonia, and Lori (Dave) Shackelford of Vallonia; Grandchildren, Derik (Jessica) Nierman, Adilee (Tim) Phegley, Lindsey (Tyler) Szymczak, Reid Kovener, Clay and Clark Hauer, Chasity (David) Babbitt, DeAnn (John) Eubanks and 9 Great Grandchildren; brothers, Darrell "Coolie" (Barb) Singer of Brownstown, Ivan "Pete" (Anna) Singer of Freetown; Sisters, Mary Gail Toppe of Vallonia, Jenny (Tom) Dixon of Bradenton, FL, & Gatha Campbell of Seymour. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 4 brothers, Nelson, Robert, Marshall and Tommy Singer. Goldie was always doing for others whether it be family, friends or neighbors. She believed in helping all. She also enjoyed her trips to Tennessee, shopping and collecting wall pockets. She loved to crochet, garden, cook, and bake. Her smile, laugh and sense of humor was loved by all. For 38 years, she and her husband Dick and family ran the Hauer Produce Market on Lake Road, which was their passion. Every customer seemed to love "Goldie". Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, June 23rd at 11 am at Johnson Funeral Home with Michael Hogg officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, June 22nd from 4-8 and Thursday from 10 until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Jackson County Hospice, Driftwood Christian Church, Vallonia Christian Church, Trinity Lutheran Church or Don & Dana Myers Cancer Center.
