Johnson Funeral Home 2005 South Main Street Vallonia, Indiana 47281 812-358-3341 Gladys M. Raby, 86, of Vallonia, died at 4:44 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Salem Crossing. She had been ill for 3 years. She was a member of the Full Gospel Outreach in Salem. She had been a teachers assistant, worked in home health care and retired from Smith Cabinet Co. Gladys loved going to church, spending time with family especially the grandkids, she loved to cook and garden. Gladys was born November 15, 1930 in Morristown, TN to the late Hubert H. Spoons and Hazel Williams Spoons. She married Charlie W. Raby on January 12, 1952 in Brownstown, IN and he passed away on August 25, 1984. Survivors include her children, Linda (Troy) Darkis of Vallonia, Joann (Rick) Doyle of Bloomington, and Rita (James) Pumphrey of Vallonia; 20 grandchildren; & 40 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sons, Wayne, Carl & Timothy Raby, 1 daughter, Pamela Sue Doyle, 4 brothers, John, Millard, Paul & Charles Raby and a sister, Helen Smith. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, April 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Toney McCutcheon officiating. Friends may call Friday, March 31st from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery.
