Empson G. Peters, 93, of Vallonia, passed away at 3:29 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at his home. He was born on October 9, 1928, in Seymour, IN to the late Holmes E. & Iva M. (Geyer) Peters. On September 27, 1949, in Vallonia, he married Lela E. (Durham) Peters and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2021. Empson was a member of Driftwood Christian Church, where he held many titles and served on numerous committees. He was a farmer. Empson enjoyed cars, motorcycles, airplanes, and all types of auto racing. Survivors include his; son, Chris (Nyra) Peters of Vallonia; daughter-in-law, Theresa Peters of Champaign, IL; grandchildren, Curt H. Peters, Emily L. (Chad) Sommers, Anna K. (Yusuf Hermes) Peters, & Samuel J. Peters; great grandchildren, Selena, Dacy & Ebke Peters, Max & Lela Sommers; and a brother, Darrell F. (Patricia) Peters. Empson was preceded in death by his parents; wife, son, James E. Peters; sister, Lola Lee Peters; and a granddaughter, Molly E. Peters. Funeral Services for Empson will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Driftwood Christian Church with Daniel Ison & Steve Gommel officiating. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemetery.
