Johnson Funeral Home 2005 South Main Street Vallonia, Indiana 47281 812-358-3341 Debron Max Wessel, 74, of Vallonia, died at 11:47 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at his home. He went home to be with his heavenly father after a valiant 8 year fight with cancer. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vallonia. He was retired from Cummins Engine Co. after 40 years and was a part-time farmer for 20 years. He graduated from Tampico High School. Mr. Wessel was a member of a Euchre Club for 50 years, enjoyed gardening, geneology, horses, farming, and Square dancing. He volunteered at various schools where he taught hundreds of children how to peel apples, make pies, quilt, and fish. He was born July 5, 1939 in Tampico to the late Wilbert & Viola Steinkamp Wessel. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson Co. On August 21, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church, he married Juanita Hackman and she survives. Other survivors include 2 children, Loren (Lorna) Wessel of Tampico and Linda (Jonathon) Pardieck of Indianapolis; 4 granchildren, Jessica & Heather Wessel , Kelsey & Brandon Pardieck; 6 brothers, Kenneth (Eunice) Wessel, Wilbert (Donna) Wessel, Jr., Lelard (Mary Lou) Wessel, Kelso (Judith) Wessel, William (Wilma) Wessel, Ivan (Shirley) Wessel; 3 sisters, Violet (Robert) Wischmeier, Audra (Michael) Deaton, Opal (Michael) Roberts. He was preceded in death by parents, one infant son, Stuart Wessel; 2 brothers, Edward (Bernice) Wessel & Walter Wessel; 1 sister, Rosa Nell Wessel. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Vallonia with the Pastor Eric Ahlemeyer officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Church. Burial will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
