He had been ill for 2 weeks. He attended the Brownstown Nazarene Church. He retired from Cummins after working there for 45 years. He belonged to the Treasure Hunters Club and enjoyed Archery. He was born on July, 7, 1937 in Brownstown to the late George & Essie Hurley Sommers. He lived all of his life in Jackson County. On August 2, 1957 in Seymour, IN he married Barbara Sue Scarlett and she survives in Brownstown. Other survivors include a daughter, Becky Givens of Vallonia; 2 grandchildren, Kerri (Justin) Reynolds of Brownstown and Ben Givens of Vallonia; 2 great grandchildren, Megan and Olivia Saunders. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Wayne Sommers, 2 brothers, Louie & Henry Sommers and a sister, Catherine Burelson. Friends may call Sunday, October 26th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. with Mike Patton officiating.
