David Wayne "Boomer" Sommers, 52, of Campbellsburg died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at his parents home in Brownstown. He had been ill for 5 months. He was a US Army Veteran. He was of the Christian faith. He had worked for Seymour Tubing in the mill for 17 years and then was employed with Crane Hill Machine. He was a member of the Brownstown Bow Hunters and shot bare compound bow in competitions at Brownstown, Medora, and Ft. Vallonia Days. He loved music and played guitar, loved hiking and enjoyed his family and being outside. He was a 1979 graduate of Brownstown Central High School. Mr. Sommers was born October 27, 1960 in Seymour to David R. and Barbara Scarlett Sommers who reside Brownstown. He has lived most of his life in Jackson County and moved to Washington County in 1993. He is survived by his parents; one sister, Becky Givens of Brownstown; a niece, Kerri (Justin) Reynolds of Seymour; a nephew, Ben Givens of Brownstown; 2 great nieces, Megan and Olivia Saunders. He was preceded in death by a great niece, Savanna Johnson Carpenter. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 6th at Johnson Funeral Home with Mike Patton officiating. Friends may call from 11 til service time Tuesday. Burial will take place in the Vallonia Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Sommers Family Service: Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. Johnson Funeral Home Visitation: Tuesday from 11am-1pm Johnson Funeral Home
