Charles Walter Jorgensen, 73, of Columbus died at 6:05 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been ill for 4 months. He was an Air Force Veteran serving from 1966-1972 during Vietnam. He was a member of Garden City Church of Christ in Columbus. He retired from Camp Atterbury where he worked in the Supply Store. He also had his own business as a blind vendor through Bosma. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School and attended Lincoln Christian College for 3 years. He was born on November 1, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Robert & Pauline Maybe Jorgensen. He married Lisa Smith on June 13, 1992 in Terre Haute, IN and she survives in Columbus. Other survivors include 3 children, Lori, Wendy & Lindsay Jorgensen; a brother, Richard (Colette) Jorgensen of Illinois and a sister, Bobette (Roger) Fields of Minnesota. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews. A Memorial Service will be conducted Tuesday, May 1st at 12:00 noon at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Brian Gilroy & Richard Jorgensen officiating. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery. Full Military Graveside Rites will be conducted.
