James E. Ozbun, 92, of Brownstown and formerly of Seymour, died at 5:35 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Hoosier Christian Village. He was born on February 5, 1928 in Lynn, IN to the late Earl & Emma Addington Ozbun. On November 13, 1947 in Oatsville, IN, he married Violet E. Temple Ozbun and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2018. James was retired from Arvin's and was a Union Steward. He was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene, Seymour, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He loved and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and making wooden reindeer, macramé jewelry, and oil painting. Survivors include his 2 daughters, Marsha (Larry) Jones of The Villages, FL & Robin Armstrong of Seymour; grandson, Chad (Lindsay Moen) Jones; & great grandchildren, Jackson Dewar & Cora Violet Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers—Charles, Edwin, & Elvin Ozbun, and sisters—Mabel, Amaryllis Fodge, & Bernice Thompson. Funeral service for James will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia with Jerry Wheeler officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Sunday. The family is asking that all visitors please wear a mask while you are the funeral home. Johnson Funeral Home will be practicing social distancing according to the CDC guidelines. Memorial contributions may be given to the Haleysburg Nazarene Church.
