Carl J. Raby, Sr., 53, of Vallonia, died at 8:28 a.m. December 10, 2013 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He had been ill for 2 months. He was an Army Veteran. He attended Millport Mission and Southern Baptist Church. His last place of employment was Sylvania. He was a volunteer for the Monroe Township Fire Department and the Emergency Management of Salem. He graduated from Salem High School. He was born December 29, 1959 in Salem to the late Charlie Raby & Gladys Spoon Raby and she survives in Vallonia. He is also survived by 3 children, Kaylee (Brent) Turner of Crothersville, Carl Jeffrey (Heather) Raby Jr. of Medora, and Brittany (Brian) Tice of Crothersville; 3 sisters, Linda (Troy) Darkis of Vallonia, Joann (Rick) Doyle of Bloomington, and Rita (Jim) Pumphrey of Vallonia; 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, 1 brother- Wayne Raby and a sister- Sue Doyle. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home with Greg Underwood officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. til service time Friday. Burial will take place at the Vallonia Cemtery. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society.
